Proposal for an experimental art happening: the prompt show
In an age of artificial simulators, the meaning of a work of art can be separated from its embodiment through the prompt. The prompt represents the living labor fraction of artistic commodity creation. Meanwhile, the cost of the simulation drops to zero. The embodiment of the work becomes nondeterministic and subject to the laws of statistics. We should reflect on what these changes mean at an ontological level through experimental aesthetic procedures. In that vein, a proposal is made for the prompt show.
In the prompt show, the artists display only a set of instructions (or inputs more generally) and these inputs are executed by an agent to render the image.
